TECHNO AFTERS TRAP: 4
Fri, Mar 22 at 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM EDTGalo Space: 494 Broadway, SoHo, NY, 10012, US
Lineup curated by EJ BOOKER, Head of Gorilla Marketing.
As with all SLIST events our lineup is curated for dark music.
Dark music evokes feelings of sorrow, despair, hate, and other negative emotions. It’s a reminder of the human condition. Common elements include haunting melodies, ethereal vocals, and unnatural sounds. Every genre from pop to industrial hardcore has a darker sub-genre that falls under “dark music”.
This event will feature the following genres in particular:
Acidcore, Acid trance, Dark techno, Hardcore Industrial Trance, Hard groove, Hard techno, Neo-rave, and a bit of melodic Psytechno to get the party warmed-up.
■ No tables or chairs on the dance floor.
■ Zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination.
We book DJs directly from our online community – often without ever meeting them in person until the actual event. The only thing we care about is their ability to submit a dark mixtape. If you’d like to get involved with our parties in any capacity shoot us a DM or come say hi in person.
We treat each member of our lineup with equal compensation opportunities. Every member on the lineup has a critical role. No one is highlighted or treated as a headliner. Depending on the event, we invite previous “peak-hour DJs” for earlier and later slots. The party comes before everything else.
Seems like putting together last minute events might be our kink. We’re super grateful to our community of ravers who are signing up to play for our events. This is allowing us to put together large high quality lineups super quickly. We currently have 50 signups and our goal is to make sure everyone can get a chance to share their tastes with the rest of the community.
If you haven’t been included, we’ll get back to you. Sometimes we just need a different mixtape or playlist where your selection is “riskier”.
Our previous event had the best turnout by a large margin. Unfortunately, we had some problems stocking the bar. This time we are buying much more supplies in advance because it’s become obvious that we’re going to be doing many more events this year and that we need to take a much more long term approach with our purchases.
Some of our community members reached out to us about getting stuff at wholesale prices so that we can comfortably buy more than what we need for a single night.
The venue owner was impressed by the turnout and also the *quality* of our guests despite the terrible bar performance and so we now have a new deal for a much a lower upfront rental fee so that we can invest more on the bar. They’re making a bet on us for all the right reasons.
The contrast between the aggressive music we like to showcase and the gentle nature of our community members is what made this upcoming event possible despite the many failures of the previous event. That’s quite literally the biggest reason our investors are continue to work with us. Thank you all.
The time slots will be announced publicly in a couple days. The concept is to just go darker, harder, and faster as the night progresses.
All ticket sales must be through the Shotgun app for maximum transparency between our partners and investors.
All bar sales must also be digital so we can continue to collect data on what sells and where to invest our resources. This is also for added security and making sure everything runs smoothly.
We will also have some exotic items like the Japanese whiskey from last time to keep it interesting.
We’ll also have some more free snacks at the bar 🙂
